Characteristics
The UPS operates with double-conversion technology, in accordance with the VFI-SS-111 classification (standard: IEC EN 62040-3), and its state-of-the-art DSP technology, dual-core microprocessor and three-level inverter circuits, as well as resonant control, guarantee the protection of the most critical loads while reducing energy consumption costs.
Available versions of the Sentryum UPS
The Sentryum UPS is available in three versions to meet the needs of different power consumers:
Sentryum Compact (CPT)
It is an efficient, compact solution, available in variants: 10 kVA, 15 kVA and 20 kVA with single or three-phase input and single-phase output. The Compact CPT has cosϕ=1, 1kVA=1KW and autonomous operation of up to 12 minutes at typical load. It has the advantage of being able to operate in confined spaces.
Sentryum Active (ACT)
The main advantage of this version of the Sentryum is flexibility and efficiency, through the ability to select power demand and back-up time. Wide power range: 10 kVA, 15 kVA, 20 kVA for single or three-phase input and single-phase output. This version also allows the use of one or two levels of battery back-up time.
Sentryum Xtend (XTD)
This version offers the greatest scope for adjusting power and battery back-up time, while having a compact design. Xtend has the option to incorporate an isolation transformer and to change the degree of enclosure protection from IP20 to IP21 or even IP31.
Compact design
Riello's designers, bearing in mind the importance of environmental aspects and the product life cycle, have developed UPS that combine high efficiency, flexibility and compactness. This has been achieved through the use of durable and high-quality recyclable materials. State-of-the-art technology has been used to reduce the space between components, while ensuring that parameters such as reliability and failure-free operation are also at a very high level.
The building areas and volumes of the different versions:
Compact: installation area of less than 0.2m² and only 0.17m³ volume.
Active: installation area of less than 0.35m² and only 0.33m³ volume.
Xtend: installation area of less than 0.4m² and only 0.5m³ volume.
High power
The Sentryum series guarantees consumers that the power offered by the UPS will be in line with that of the design, irrespective of the load and the operating temperature (up to 40 ͦC), while the advanced digital control allows up to 270% of the inverter current to be delivered for 200ms and 150% for 300ms.
The unit can cope with sudden load spikes without the need to trigger a static bypass. In addition, the modern design allows the unit to deliver a high battery charge current, while conversion during battery operation reduces costs and extends autonomous operation.
High efficiency
Sentryum series offer the highest levels of power supply, which is achieved through the use of a three-level IGTB inverter topology, furthermore built from modules rather than individual components, and digital control. Thanks to these technologies, the Sentryum UPS achieves an overall efficiency of 96.6% and up to 99% in Smart Active mode.
Achieving high efficiency while reducing components and space has increased the MTBF (mean time between failures) and contributed to the higher reliability of the UPS on offer. The Sentryum, through the use of digital PFC control and a three-level NCP inverter (operating at high frequency) also has minimal impact on the mains supply or the generator connected to it, resulting in savings from lower energy bills and operating costs. This is also achieved, thanks to power supply features such as:
- Low THDI ≤3% input current distortion
- Input power factor 0.99
- Power walk-in function (soft-start system), providing a gradual start-up of the rectifier
- Delayed start-up function, enabling the rectifiers to restart sequentially when mains power is restored, used in systems comprising several UPS.
- Mains power factor filtering and correction upstream of the UPS, eliminating harmonics and reactive power generated by loads.
Intelligent battery management system
Sentryum is equipped with a range of battery management features:
- Low THDI ≤3% input current distortion
- Input power factor 0.99
- Power walk-in function (soft-start system), providing a gradual start-up of the rectifier
- Delayed start-up function, enabling the rectifiers to restart sequentially when mains power is restored, used in systems comprising several UPS.
- Mains power factor filtering and correction upstream of the UPS, eliminating harmonics and reactive power generated by loads.
The Sentryum is suitable for use with both traditional lead-acid batteries, Open Vented batteries and nickel-cadmium batteries. The UPS is also compatible with Li-Ion and supercaps.
Functions and operation modes
- Parallel operation of up to 8 units with N+1 redundancy
- The use of an IGTB rectifier has made it possible to achieve a power factor close to 1, with very low current distortion, making it unnecessary to use very expensive filters in the Sentryum
- The low THDu at the output ensures a perfect sinusoid and guarantees a reliable power supply, protecting loads from interference from the mains
- Active power equal to reactive power, which extends the applicability of the loads and offers more scope for possible subsequent load growth
- Intelligent fan system, adapting its speed to the room temperature and load level. This reduces fan wear and the noise level of the UPS.
Various sizes of battery cabinets can be used, offering great possibilities.
Sentryum advanced communication
The UPS is equipped with a colour touchscreen display with the possibility to read multiple indicators: the operating status of the power supply, graphical energy flow paths and the operating status of various components. Sentryum offers advanced communication for all operating systems:
- PowerShield3: Windows 10, 8, 7, Hyper-V, 2019, 2016, 2012, and the earlier versions, Mac OS X, Linux, VMWare ESXi, Citrix XenServer and other Unix versions.
- Serial port RS232 with RJ10 and USB port
- 2 additional sockets for the installation of optional communication accessories such as network devices and potential-free contacts, etc.
- Built-in contact set with 5 programmable inputs and 4 programmable outputs.
- REPO: for shutting down the UPS using an external emergency button..
